Some of the ingredients in SolcareMD such as polypodium leucotomos and niacinamide work within a few hours of being taken. The carotenoids (astaxanthin, lutein, lycopene) accumulate in the skin and work best after 10 weeks. Many people report improvement in the appearance of their skin after a few weeks. Improvement in hyperpigmentation can occur in as early as 4 weeks.
SolcareMD can be taken as needed when you are expecting a lot of environmental exposures or every day for preventative maintenance.
In patients who have severe kidney disease, there is an increased risk of stomach upset and low platelet counts when high doses of niacinamide are used. These doses far exceed what is in SolcareMD, but please talk to your doctor about taking any nutraceutical, including SolcareMD, if you are on blood thinners or have kidney or liver disease. Do not take any nutraceutical if you are pregnant or breastfeeding without talking to your doctor. The ingredients in SolcareMD have not specifically been tested in children, so it is not recommended for children under 18 years old at this time.
SolcareMD was designed to complement and be taken with your daily multivitamin. It does not contain preformed vitamin A. There are no known interactions with prescription medications; however, you should talk to your doctor before taking any nutraceutical if you are on prescription medications. Of note, niacinamide is not equivalent to niacin, which is known to interact with medications and has a unique side effect profile.
